Beginning in the spring of 1992, and continuing every year since then, an annual giving campaign has been conducted in support of the Saint Francis Xavier School Fund (SFXSF). The SFXSF was established to facilitate the maintenance and improvement of the school and its program without raising tuition to prohibitive levels.
In a true sense, SFXSF proceeds constitute a financial scholarship spread across the entire Saint Francis Xavier School student body.
Each year all readers of our SFX Alumni & Friends Association Newsletter (SFX A&FA News) are afforded the opportunity to contribute to the SFXSF annual giving campaign. To date, the SFXSF has been an unqualified success. Even a brief review of the SFXSF's record gives one cause for optimism about the fund and the school's future. In the autumn of 2006, the cumulative total of donations to SFXSF exceeded the $400,000 level.
While the annual giving campaign for SFXSF 2006 ended on October 2, the very next day donations of more than $2,000 arrived by mail; they were recorded as the first contributions to SFXSF 2007. Though we continue to conduct and evaluate SFXSF on an annual basis, and launch each year's annual appeal in early spring, contributions to the fund now arrive throughout the year.
Every year, in the autumn edition of the SFX A&FA News, we thank, and list the names of, all donors to that year's SFXSF campaign. Also posted in the SFXA&FA Autumn edition is the SFXSF Roll of Honor (a listing of all who made donations of $250 or more) for that particular year.
The SFXSF proceeds have been used for a plethora of projects such as tuition assistance, the reconstruction of our school yard, CYO Sports, replacing the school's heating boiler apparatus, the purchase of materials used by our parents and friends for volunteer projects such as painting etc., printing and mailing the SFX A&FA News and the SFXSF Annual Appeal, the construction and maintenance of the school's website, and even parking fees for our teachers during warm weather months to ensure that the school yard is available for use by our children. The list goes on and on.
